Riverside and San Bernardino counties make up the Inland Empire, one of the largest warehousing and logistics corridors in the country, built on cheap land within reach of the ports of LA and Long Beach. Fresno, Kern, and the rest of the Central Valley run the country's most productive stretch of irrigated farmland, real agricultural production most coverage of California skips entirely in favor of the coast. None of these are the Bay Area, LA, or San Diego, and this edition doesn't treat them as smaller versions of any of the three.
