Tulsa carries the history books' weight and a real, current tech-building push at the same time: the Greenwood District, once called Black Wall Street, was burned down in the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, one of the worst acts of racial violence in American history -- and today the George Kaiser Family Foundation has committed $50 million through Tulsa Innovation Labs to build the same city into a real technology hub, with the Tulsa Remote program alone drawing more than 1,300 remote workers to relocate since 2018. Two cities, two different kinds of consequential, both real.
