· Teterboro, NJ
American aerospace/aviation and automotive-parts manufacturer; its aviation/aerospace division was headquartered in Teterboro, NJ (the town's aviation identity grew up around Bendix's operations there). Acquired by Allied Corporation in 1983 following the Bendix-Martin Marietta takeover battle; folded into AlliedSignal upon the 1985 Allied/Signal Companies merger, and from there into Honeywell International (1999). This is the specific office/branch the operator worked in as an intern testing Hubble Space Telescope gyroscopes, summer 1987 or 1988 (a summer internship during his NJIT studies, which began September 1986) -- by then colloquially called "Allied" on-site even though the Teterboro facility traced back to Bendix.
