Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science is a historically Black graduate institution in the Watts-Willowbrook neighborhood of South Los Angeles, founded in 1966 in response to inadequate medical access in Watts. Its medical program is one of only four historically Black medical colleges in the nation.
