Eugene, in Lane County, is home to the University of Oregon and Nike's founding roots. Bend, in Deschutes County, built a real outdoor-recreation and craft-brewing economy in Central Oregon, distinct from either Portland or the coast. None of these are Portland, and this edition doesn't treat them as smaller versions of it.
